Hold It Up was our debut workshop and how we got our name as a collective. It was a banner making workshop to celebrate 50 years of Pride in the UK, and to explore its history through banner making and protests.
We ran it as a day long drop-in workshop at Hyde Park Art Club in Leeds on the 4th of August 2022. We provided everyone with materials and some photographic material for inspiration, resulting in 34 being made. We gave everyone the option of either taking it home with them, or giving it to us to sew into a large communial banner, which we then took to Leeds Pride 2022 and marched with.
