16th September - a banner/protest plaque recreation workshop by HIUC at the Leeds City Museum. Banners/plaques made by participants will be exhibited at the community corridor
We will share some archival material, talk about protest and activism, and together celebrate the fight that gained us our rights by recreating historical banners that we still feel are relevant today. The banners made will then be displayed in the Community Corridor of Leeds City Museum from the 2nd of October.
Section 28 was first introduced just over 35 years ago, yet today’s political climate feels very similar - repressive laws against trans people, queer people’s rights and autonomy being a topic of debate any time there’s an upcoming election and any time in between.. However, our community continues to push against it all and we will persevere.
Refreshments and snacks will be provided!
